John Ellis creates images that hone in on the big idea, the light, that telling sense of what it feels like to be in the space, with the people you encounter in the image.

Ellis is hired by architects, designers, hotels, cities and advertising clients that want a certain personality in the mix, a slice of drama and edge, not stale documentation.

His creative work is published around the world and has appeared on dozens of covers including Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, New York Cottages & Gardens, Luxe, Metropolis, Coastal Living and Interior Design.  Portrait commissions recently shot for DesignLA and LALA.

Current commisions include such varied projects as an Aspen Chalet, a house on stilts in the Pacific Northwest, an eco-friendly primary school, and the City of Burbank.  Other recent gigs include a lifestyle shoot of  Phillip Lim and his boutique in Downtown LA, a spectacular garden in Sedona,  a cottage in Upstate New York and a senior housing project in Montecito, California.
