John Ellis creates images focused on capturing a feeling.   It's about honing in on the big idea, the light, that telling sense of what it really feels like to be in the space and with the people you encounter in the image.

Ellis is hired by architects, designers, hotels, cities and advertising clients that want a certain personality in the mix, a slice of drama and edge, not stale documentation.

His creative work is published around the world and has appeared on dozens of covers including Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Metropolitan Home, Metropolis, Luxe, Coastal Living and Interior Design.

Recent commisions include such varied projects as an Aspen Chalet with five connected structures tiered up a hillside, a house on stilts in the Pacific Northwest and an eco-friendly primary school for the children of Cal Tech professors.  Other recent gigs include a Stonehenge-like garden in Sedona, a ranch in Ojai, and a boutique hotel chain in Santa Barbara.
